Our Strategic Audit Process

To effectively manage supply chain security, CBP recommends a structured “5-Step Risk Assessment Process” for C-TPAT partners. RSJ expertly guides companies through the implementation of this critical methodology, which typically involves:

1

Mapping Cargo/Data Flow & Identifying Business Partners

This initial step involves a thorough mapping and understanding of your entire international supply chain, documenting the movement of your cargo and data, and identifying all directly and indirectly involved business partners, from point of origin to distribution.

2

Conducting a Threat Assessment

We help you identify potential threats specific to your supply chain, which could include terrorism, smuggling, theft, or other illicit activities. This involves analyzing geopolitical risks, crime rates, and other factors in relevant regions.

3

Conducting a Vulnerability Assessment

Following the threat assessment, we evaluate the weaknesses in your existing security measures that could be exploited by identified threats. This covers physical security gaps, procedural loopholes, and IT vulnerabilities.

4

Preparing a Written Action Plan

Based on the assessments, we assist in developing a clear, documented action plan. This plan outlines specific steps to address identified vulnerabilities, mitigate risks, and enhance your overall security posture.

5

Documenting the Risk Assessment Procedure and Reviewing Periodically

Maintaining detailed records of the entire risk assessment process is crucial. We guide you in documenting procedures and establishing a framework for regular, periodic reviews to ensure ongoing effectiveness and adaptability to evolving threats. C-TPAT partners are required to conduct a risk assessment at least annually.
